Connecting Classrooms

This year marks the beginning of Damers exciting journey with Chogoria Girls Boarding School, in Chogoria Kenya.

Through the help of the British Council, we have successfully been granted funding to establish links.

This partnership will connect both schools to a team of schools in both our local areas enabling our pupils to connect with children of different ages, from different cultures and backgrounds.

Starting in the Spring Term 2015, our pupils will have the opportunity to develop their understanding of:

• Our different cultures, recognising similarities and challenging stereotypes
• Conservation and the importance of protecting our world’s green spaces
• The importance of growing food in our respective communities
• The similarities and differences in our local environments

Through participating in the project, children in both schools will develop a greater sense of empathy and self-awareness. Our pupils will collaborate and communicate more effectively with their partner school and within Damers they will be challenged to think critically and creatively.
